Choosing a Guide Type

Add your guide to the correct Guide category either - Subject, Topic, Course, or How-To.

Subject Guides
Subject Guides should be used when creating a guide for a particular academic discipline, department, program or major.
(ex: Anthropology LibGuide, Education LibGuide, Psychology LibGuide, or Nursing LibGuide.)

Topic Guides
Topic guides should be used for specialized topics including special events, or highlighting special topics or collections.
(ex: The Common Core Guide, Tests and Measures | Education Guide, or Returning Military | PTSD Guide.)

Course Guides
Course Guides are designed to meet the needs of a specific class. They support the research assignments the students will have to complete throughout the semester and are often used as a part of library instruction sessions. NOTE: evaluate if guide is needed first. Could this be part of the subject guide?
(ex: Abnormal Psychology _ PSY 225 | Healey Guide or Food Justice ENG 101 | Cary Guide.)

How-To Guides
How-To Guides are designed to show the user how to do something. These Guides also include tutorials.
(ex: Database Tutorials Guide, APA Style Guide, or The Research Process Guide.)

Internal Guides
Guides to support LibGuides related in-house training only.
