Adding Content | Tips & Tricks

Writing for the Web

  • Less is more! Be concise.
  • Eliminate unnecessary words.
  • Use even shorter paragraphs than on paper, 4 sentences max.
  • Use short lists and bullets to organize information.
  • Use more headings with less under each heading.
  • Write (especially guide & page titles) using the same words patrons would use when doing a search for the info.
  • Never use “click here” as a linked text. Link language should describe what your reader will get if they click the link.

Add a Page

Add a Box

  • Click on the +Add Box and give it a title. 
  • You will need to create a box in order to begin to add content.

Content Options

  • Once you have created the box, you can now add content. 
  • Click on Add/Reorder. Choose which content type you need.
    • Rich Text/HTML: Use this to add any text as well as an images. 
    • Database: This allows you to add a link to a specific database.
    • Link: Use this to add a link to a website.
    • Media/Widget: You can add YouTube videos.
    • Book from the Catalog: You can grab the catalog record for a book. 
    • Document/File: You can add a PDF.
