Open Access Journals

Advances in Social Work Advances in Social Work is committed to enhancing the linkage among social work practice, research, and education. Accordingly, the journal addresses current issues, challenges, and responses facing social work practice and education globally. The journal invites discussion and development of innovations in social work practice and their implications for social work research and education. Advances in Social Work seeks to publish empirical, conceptual, and theoretical articles that make substantial contributions to the field in all areas of social work including clinical practice, community organization, social administration, social policy, planning, and program evaluation. The journal provides a forum for scholarly exchange of research findings and ideas that advance knowledge and inform social work practice. All relevant methods of inquiry are welcome.
Critical Social Work Critical Social Work offers the opportunity for constructive dialogue in the interest of achieving social justice. We recognize the historical nature of both human capability and social justice. With such recognition, we do not attempt a definitive definition of either. In part the goal of Critical Social Work is to assist us collectively in recognizing the current potentials for social justice as well as the future possibilities. Further, we recognize that a contemporary definition of social justice must deal with the issues of legal, moral, and economic obligation of both the individual and the collective. We propose that through dialogue there exists the possibility of refining our ideas about the individual and community, clarifying the relationship between interpersonal relations and institutional structures, and identifying actions that promote both individual and community well-being. To this end Critical Social Work strives, for this is surely critical social work, that is, activity directed towards establishing essential judgments in constructing a sustaining context for conviviality.
Currents: Scholarship in the Human Services The IJCV provides a forum for scientific exchange and public dissemination of up-to-date scientific knowledge on conflict and violence. The IJCV is independent, peer reviewed, open access, and included in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) as well as other relevant databases (e.g., SCOPUS, EBSCO, ProQuest, DNB). The topics on which we concentrate—conflict and violence—have always been central to various disciplines. Consequently, the journal encompasses contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including criminology, economics, education, ethnology, history, political science, psychology, social anthropology, sociology, the study of religions, and urban studies.
Intersectionalities Intersectionalities: A Global Journal of Social Work Analysis, Research, Polity, and Practice aims to underscore issues relating to oppression, privilege and resistance in society and social work. Of critical consideration are the ways in which intersections of age, disability, class, poverty, gender and sexual identity, madness, spirituality, geographical (dis)location, rurality, colonialism/imperialism, indigeneity, racialization, ethnicity, citizenship and the environment are enmeshed in processes of social justice and injustice. The journal aims to highlight these considerations within the following themes.
Journal of Family Strengths The journal’s goal is to facilitate family, worker, supervisor, educator and agency interchange. The overall goal is to promote research and evaluation, and to disseminate information for best practices that support family centered practice. These services may include: child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, juvenile justice, developmentally challenged, schools, health care, elders, and other social welfare services. The journal provides a forum for practitioners, program designers, administrators, researchers and educators to present and critically review programs, policies, practice methods and research findings from a family strengths perspective. The journal is intended to positively impact the form and type of services provided with families.
Journal of Social Inclusion The Journal of Social Inclusion (JoSI) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that will contribute to current knowledge and understanding of the social processes that marginalise individuals, families and communities.
Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research The Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research is a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to presenting innovative, rigorous original research on social problems, intervention programs, and policies. By creating a venue for the timely dissemination of empirical findings and advances in research methods, JSSWR seeks to strengthen the rigor of social work research and advance the knowledge in social work and allied professions and disciplines. Special emphasis is placed on publishing findings on the effectiveness of social and health services, including public policies and practices. JSSWR publishes an array of perspectives, research approaches, and types of analyses that advance knowledge useful for designing social programs, developing innovative public policies, and improving social work practice.
