Educating health scientists, sometimes referred to as health pedagogy, is a complicated task with many facets. Students must learn foundational information, critical thinking skills, and evidence-based research. If you are an instructor, or in coursework that will lead to being an instructor, the library has resources to assist with challenges specific to educating this population.
Health Literacy is the ability to obtain, process, and understand information needed to make appropriate health decisions.1 Like the ability to read and write, it takes instruction, time, and practice to be health literate. Clinicians can foster better health literacy in their patients by providing instruction and information that assists them in understanding their health and options for health care.
