What is ILLiad | InterLibrary Loan

We can borrow books & articles from other Libraries for you!

If the book or article you're looking for is not owned by the Wolfgram Library then you need the services of Interlibrary Loan. This service obtains materials from other libraries on your behalf.

There are multiple ways for you to make an InterLibrary Loan Request. You can choose to navigate directly to the ILLiad System to submit a request... or you can utilize one of the ILLiad | InterLibrary Loan links that are embedded throughout the majority of the library's resources.

Who can use the InterLibrary Loan Service?

Only main campus graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and administration who have an active library patron record* (with a barcode) are eligible for this service.

Do I have to register before I can use InterLibrary Loan?

Yes, registration through the ILLiad system is required prior to making your first request. Unregistered users' requests will not be processed.

Is the InterLibrary Loan Service free?

In general, yes... but there may be charges if the lending library does not lend for free. Prior to the request being processed, you will be asked to confirm your willingness to pay the $10 charge in these cases.

How long does it take to receive the requested materials?

Electronic delivery of Article requests is usually completed within 48-72 hours and physical materials (Books, DVD/VHS, etc) are usually filled within 7-10 days. You will receive an email notification once they arrive.

What format do requested materials arrive in?

Most materials are delivered electronically through ILLiad as downloadable PDFs, the exception being print books, DVD/VHS, and other materials not available electronically.

*NOTE: All students must have a Widener ID card with a barcode on the back. If you do not have an ID, please make arrangements with the Campus1Card office 610-499-4145 to obtain one. If you are only registered in a distance education program contact the Campus1Card office 610-499-4145 to obtain a Library Research Card.
