This guide includes information and library resources for distance education (online) students.

Welcome Distance Education Students

As a student enrolled in a Distance Learning program at Widener University you have access to all Wolfgram Library collections including print books, eBooks, academic journals, databases, and more. The Wolfgram Library also offers reference assistant services both in person and online.

Use the tabs to navigate the different library resources and to find more information about how to access the library resources from off campus.

Program Specific Subject LibGuides

Navigate to the subject guides to view multitude of top resources from all corners of the Wolfgram Library collection and the web. With subject specific research tips, access to frequently asked questions and links to your subjects liaison librarian, these guides serve as the launch point for your research and the place you return to when looking for help.

Research Assistance for Off Campus Students

Reference assistance is provided by all Wolfgram reference librarians. This includes finding specific facts, guiding you in the creation of a search strategy, and helping guide you in your research.

What You Need to Login

As a Distance Education Students (enrolled ONLY in distance education programs), you should have a Library Research Card which will allow you to enter the Library, borrow books, use ILLiad | Interlibrary Loan, and access the library resources from off-campus.

You will be prompted to enter the 14 digit barcode from the back of your Library Research Card when accessing library resources from off-campus.

You can request a Library Research card from the Campus1card Office.

To request a Library Research Card, send an email to: campus1card@widener.edu

The email should include the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Student ID Number
  • Classes Attending and Semester
  • Home Address
  • Phone Number

Once the Campus1Card Office receives the email request, a Library Research Card will be mailed.  Cards typically arrive within a week, but it sometimes can take longer to reach mailing addresses outside the United States.  After the Library Research Card has been printed and mailed a returned email will be sent advising the card is on the way.

Access to Libraries Near You

The Wolfgram Library does not mail books from our collection. However, the library does offer access to many resources in electronic format and to other libraries.

Many regional academic libraries allow current Widener students to use their facilities.  If you are interested in gaining access to another regional academic library, please contact the Circulation Supervisor, at 610-499-4068 for more information.
