This guide presents the Research Process that uses Resources at Wolfgram Memorial Library.

Finding the Full Text of a Journal Article

There are 3 options for finding the full text of a journal article:

Option 1 - Find the Full Text in the Article's Record

Option 2  - Find the Full Text through Full Text Finder

Option 3 - Use ILLiad to order the Full Text

Search Example

  1. From the Library's Homepage, select A - Z Databases.
  2. View this alphabetical list that shows rich variety of databases available at Widener.
  3. Select A and then Academic Search Premier.

Search for the keywords human trafficking.

Finding the Full Text of a Journal Article

  • The article record often includes a link to the PDF Full Text from the Brief Record, just click on the link and download the PDF document.
    • Note: If the article provides both a PDF Full Text and an HTML Full Text option, always select the PDF as it provides many more benefits.

      Benefits of a PDF Document:
    • A PDF document shows the article exactly how the author intended
    • Graphs, charts, and images will be present and formatted correctly.
    • For scholarly articles, a list of References will always appear at the end.
    • The page numbers are present to ensure that your Works Cited is accurate.

The Full Text Finder link, found in some article records, provides a way to obtain the Full Text of an article from another Widener online resource. This links appears in the brief record:

  • The Full Text Finder results includes the sane title and publication information, indicating that it is the same article from the brief record. In this example, there are three options under Resources Located for this Citation. If you have the option, always select the one that features a named database. Ex: Click on --  Find this article in full text from ProQuest Central 2012-01-01 - present

  • This is the brief record for the article with the same title in ProQuest. Notice that it provides two ways to access the Full Text PDF. The option on the right allows you to open and read the document right on the screen and the option on the right, enables you to download the PDF.

Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad is free service that obtains books and journal articles from other libraries on your behalf!

  • When you receive a result, such as the one above, you notice that it does not show any links to the Full Text or Full Text Finder. This  means that the library does not provide access to this article. Yet, you can order the article through our Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) Service!
  • Click on the ILLiad Wolfgram link and you obtain the ILLiad Logon screen:

  • The first time you use ILLiad, you must register and create an account. Clink on First Time Users and First Time Use Registration instructions.
  • After registering, enter the user name and password you created into the Logon box and you obtain the Article Request screen.ILLiad Article Request screen with all of the article information filled out

 

  • Notice that all the important information about the article you are requesting including the Title of the Source. Year of Publication, Page numbers, Article Author, Article Title, etc. is all filled out for you. Just scroll down to the bottom and select Submit Request link
  • After submitting your request you will receive your article in about 1-4 days (the wait time variies). You will receive an email from ILL.Wolfgram@widener.ed indicating that your request has arrived.
  • To obtain the article from the library's home page, click on the Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) tile. Then Login to ILLiad and click on Electronically Received Articles.
  • You will obtain a listing of all the PDF Full Text documents that have arrived.
    IMPORTANT:
    Download and save the article ASAP! Articles  stay in ILLiad for 30 days and then they disappear, you don't want have to order it again.
